About Us

Our history
Who we are
Women’s Agenda was co-founded at the end of 2020 by two feminist women with over a decade of experience in peacebuilding, women’s rights, and advocacy. The nature of this collaboration lies in the shared values of feminist peace and security, women’s resilience, and gender equity. Their shared reflections on the lack of a collective peace agenda and its impact on peacebuilding efforts inspired them to create a platform for generative discussions, rooted in mutual respect and solidarity, to foster better peacebuilding opportunities and joint action.
As the concept of the organization took shape, WA actively engaged with other activists, peacebuilding organizations, and international stakeholders to gather their insights on the past decades of peacebuilding in the region and to identify the areas where greater focus and effort were needed. These conversations helped crystallize the main purpose: enhancing women’s expertise to co-create new agendas and response strategies to a better and peaceful future. This mission led to the organization being named Women’s Agenda.
Officially registered in 2022, the organization aims to localize the Gender, Peace, and Security agenda in Armenia by including border communities and diverse groups of women. We advocate for women’s meaningful participation in peace processes, provide educational opportunities for women to become peace mediators and negotiators, promote economic justice for women, advocate for human security and challenge toxic masculinity as a contributing factor to disparities and violent conflicts.
As a young, forward-looking organization, we believe in open structures, mutual understanding, support, and solidarity among civil society actors, and we are open to collaborations.
Organization's Goals
Gender, Peace and Security Agenda
We believe that women’s meaningful participation in peace and human security decision-making processes is key to building sustainable peace. We organize, learn and grow in community with other expert women to foster localized peace and security agendas, gender-responsive policies and inclusive negotiations.
Economic Justice for Women
We aim to address systemic and structural barriers to women’s economic justice by shifting policies and practices. Women’s economic agency and participation are fundamental to gender equity and women’s human security.
